Should I Upgrade to Windows 11 With QuickBooks?

Ask the Accountant…

Question: I keep seeing pop-ups to upgrade to Windows 11. Is that a good idea?

Answer: If you do that, you will likely run into problems if you are running QuickBooks Desktop. Currently, Intuit is testing QB 2022 with Windows 11.

Indications are that earlier years of QB will not be tested with Windows 11. If you upgrade, that means that any problems that might arise will not have been tested and potentially fixed. Windows 10 is expected to be supported by Microsoft until 10/14/25.

If you purchase a new computer that has Windows 11, you might want to consider leaving your older versions of QB Desktop on the old computer running with Windows 10.

I would not upgrade to Windows 11 until you have to do so.
